What is AS 3600 Design Code?
AS 3600 is the Australian Standard for the design and detailing of reinforced concrete (RC) and post-tensioned (PT) concrete structures. It provides the foundational design rules and performance requirements that engineers must follow when modelling and detailing concrete elements in building and infrastructure projects.
In this course, we will focus on the key sections of AS 3600 that you need to understand before starting your modelling and structural design—such as minimum concrete strength, reinforcement cover, load combinations, and deflection control.
⚠️ Note: Detailed reinforcement detailing (e.g., bar spacing, anchorage, lapping) will be covered in a separate course, as that step comes after the modelling and structural design process has been completed.
