SlopeW – Slope Stability Software

  • Suitable for: Geotechnical Engineers, Civil Engineering Graduates who are looking for a job in engineering consultancies in construction industry
  • Chosen by: Professionals working in Douglas Partners, Smart Structures Australia, APS Consulting, etc.
  • Length: Total 6 hours
  • Access: 6 months access on mobile & PC

What is Slope W:

SLOPE/W is the leading slope stability software for soil and rock slopes. It can effectively analyze both simple and complex problems for a variety of slip surface shapes, pore-water pressure conditions, soil properties, and loading conditions. With this comprehensive range of features, it can be used to analyze almost any slope stability problem you will encounter in your geotechnical, civil, and mining engineering projects.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Attain fundamental knowledge and key considering factors of using Slope W software covering modelling and design procedure.

You Will Learn:

  • Introduction to SLOPE/W and review of SLOPE/W Capacity
  • Fundamentals behind SLOPE/W
  • Get started with modelling in SLOPE/W
  • Discussion of different types of slip circles and how to assign them
  • Discussion of pore water pressure conditions and how to assign them
  • Introducing structural elements to the model
  • Introduction to Limit State Design
  • Model external loads and surcharges
  • Brief discussion on advanced topics

About Instructor

Joel Huang

Joel is an associate geotechnical Engineer in one of the biggest geotechnical consultancies in Australia having 11 years of experience in the construction industry. His skill is specialised in numerical modelling / finite element analyses for problems related to soil-structure interactions such as slope stabilisation, embankment, tunnel, shoring walls, deep basement excavation, raft slab, piled foundation and basement dewatering. He's been played a key role in projects like high-rise buildings adjacent or directly over rail and road tunnels, super deep basements (27 m deep), high-rise buildings with huge piles and pile groups, raft slabs in the water-tight basements and etc. He majored in Masters of Geotechnical Engineering from UNSW.
