What are Bolt Fastening Methods? (07:01)
What are the main bolt fastening methods?
Bolts are also tightened to one of the specifications below:
(S) – Being ‘snug’
Snug tight is the tightness in the bolts attained by a few impacts of an impact wrench or by the full effort of a person using a standard spanner to bring the plies into the firm contact.
(TF) – Friction type application
TF types used for application where building movement is NOT allowed. The bolt uses friction to prevent it from slipping to the edge of the hole.
(TB) – Bearing type application
TB means under loads the connections can slip such that the bolts bear against their 2 mm oversized hole.
